My Synology NAS has been working flawlessly for about 6 years, until one evening when the power went out and it entered read-only mode. In this video, I’ll explain what happened, how it could have been prevented and what was done to fix it.

Add a 2nd Drive to your Synology NAS for SHR Data Protection + Redundancy
My Synology DS918+ only had one drive. As a result, there was no data protection. If the one drive failed, I could potentially lose a lot of data. As I’m now depending on this NAS, it was apparent that Data Protection was becoming a necessity. Therefore, a 2nd 12TB drive was added. This video will explain how to add a 2nd drive for Data Protection to your NAS.
Keep in mind RAID is not a backup, it is for redundancy/data protection. There are other options for local/offsite backups which we may explore in future videos.
